Description:
STOMP Out Epilepsy and SUDEP event is taking on a new look. Join us at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colorado on Saturday, September 7, 2024, for the 15th Annual STOMP – Shining Light on Epilepsy and SUDEP Awareness Walk/Run. We will host a self-timed 5K run, in addition to a Family Fun Walk. This event has moved to afternoon. At dusk (approx. 6:30 PM), we will walk the park with purple lanterns. Walk-up Registration starts at 3:00 Dove Release 4:00 PM with 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Walk immediately after. We will celebrate with a dove release to honor those who have left too soon. If you are walking in memory of a family member taken by epilepsy, please let us know so that we can include you in this remembrance. We have a limited number of hand releases and will be offered to families who have lost a child or loved one to epilepsy on a first-come, first-served basis. This year, our tshirts will be long sleeved and will have glow in the dark features. Read on for an opportunity to have your team name printed on the event shirts. For those of you setting up a fundraising team for this event, we appreciate you so much. This is the meat of this event! If your fundraising team raises $500 or more before August 15, your team name will be placed on the backs of our event tshirts. In addition, anyone raising $100 or more through their fundrausing page, will receive a large STOMP branded purple lantern. Our Top fundraiser will have a designated area to gather friends for the evening. Click on the Fundraising button in the upper right-hand corner for details to start fundraising. We are inviting some special food trucks to participate and we will have wonderful vendors, face painting and hamster balls for your enjoyment. Face painting and hamster balls are included in your registration. Funds raised through this event provide funding for fully-trained seizure-response dogs, life-saving movement monitors for those in need and grant wish trips to Epilepsy Awareness Expo and Day at Disneyland and other wonderful events across the US.

About us
The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is a non-profit corporation formed to provide help and support to individuals, particularly children and young adults, who have epilepsy. Chelsea touched many lives during her short 16 years here and we are amazed at how many people she continues to touch through the foundation even after her passing. Her generous heart longed to see love and care come to others. In her memory The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is designed to assist people living with Epilepsy. Funds raised by this Foundation provide grants for seizure-response dogs and epilepsy monitors for those in need, educate the public about SUDEP (Sudden Unexpeccted Death in Epilepsy), and provide support to those who have been affected by SUDEP. The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation exists to raise awareness of SUDEP and to grant comfort, hope and positivity to individuals and families living with epilepsy. To date, The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation has had the privilege of providing 157 seizure-response dog grants and has provided well over 1,300 life-saving night-time and day-time movement monitors for those in need. We have awarded 104 families with wish trips to the one-of-a-kind Epilepsy Awareness Expo and Day at Disneyland. The Expo offers a wealth of information and exposure to professionals, treatment options, education and hope. You may ask why we provide grants for these items. These monitors, while life-saving, are not covered by any insurance companies. Seizure response service dogs are expensive and most of our families have to raise significant money to obtain one. Imagine caring for a loved-one with epilepsy 24/7 and being afraid to sleep for fear they might miss a seizure, or worse yet, THAT seizure that is fatal. Chelsea’s family believes strongly that if they had known to monitor Chelsea at night – and had the means to afford one of these expensive items – their outcome may have been different. Chelsea’s first nocturnal seizure took her life.
