Description:

“Howdy Folks! Welcome to Golden, where the west RUNS!”

 On Sunday, September 23, 2018 Golden’s biggest annual race will take place for the 13th year running! Starting again beneath the City’s famous ‘Welcome’ arch, right in the center of historic downtown Golden, and finishing in Parfet Park beside gushing Clear Creek, the Golden Gallop will lead its runners on 5k and 10k loops.

The 2018 Golden Gallop is sure to be a one-of-a-kind race in a one-of-a-kind town. Be there, running where the west runs!

Course description:

The 10K and 5K courses are similar to last year. Both runners and walkers are welcome!! Jogging strollers are allowed and encouraged but we ask that you start at the back for the safety of the child as well as the other participants. Sorry, but dogs are not allowed.

Parking:

We would like to promote sustainability and encourage everyone to carpool, bike or walk. Parking garages are available on 12th and Jackson as well as 13th and Jackson. There is also parking available east of 10th and Jackson as well as parking lots west of Washington Avenue.

Awards info:

We are offering $150 first place; $100 second place; $50 for third place. These amounts will be for both the male and female at each level for both the 10K and the 5K (total of 12 cash awards).  In addition, anyone who sets a new course record will receive a $100 bonus.

Chip Timing

If you wish to be timed, your chip will be issued to you at packet pick up. You must wear the chip during the event to be scored. Return your chip at the finish line to avoid a fee. In order to qualify for awards, you must have a chip AND have entered your age with your Registration. No Exceptions.

Packet pickup:

Packet pickup and late registration will take place at the Runners High store (NEW LOCATION at 2221 Ford Street, Golden, CO) on Friday, September 21 from 4-7pm and on Saturday, September 22 from 10am-5pm. Please come to packet pick up early in order to receive your correct t-shirt size.  We can not guarantee sizes will still be available as we get closer to race day. 
 
Participants can also register and pickup packets the morning of the race (Sunday, September 23) from 6:30 – 7:30am at Parfet Park. If you are registering on race day, please plan to pay by cash or check only.

  • Be sure to select the checkbox on Step 3 to register additional family members to avoid having to enter certain information numerous times.
