The next $5 5K is set for July 13 at 8 am! July’s beneficiary will be Hunter Burkhalter. Hunter is an 11 year boy that just finished 5th grade at Highland Bluff Elementary here in Brandon, Mississippi. He has been fighting osteosarcoma since June, 2023. He underwent treatment, including radiation, at St. Jude Childrens’ Hospital in Memphis. His most recent scans were clear so he is in the “maintenance” phase! He will continue taking oral chemo through August. Even through having his leg amputated, this kid has not let cancer slow him down! Every dollar received at the $5 5K will go directly to Hunter’s family to offset costs of treatment and traveling expenses.

For those of you new to the event, grab $5 and your friends and come walk or run a no pressure 5K (3.1 miles)! ALL PROCEEDS will go straight to Hunter and his family!  If you don’t want to do the whole 5K, you can turn around and head back at any point. You can even just come for support and don’t have to walk a step! For seasoned $5 5K-ers, note the new location, day and time- Saturday morning, July 13, at 8 am at RunStrong HQ.

Stick around after the 5K for a pancake breakfast for $10, also benefitting Hunter.
