This strong-hearted and loving person is Diana - seen here with her granddaughter Aubrey. Last year during a routine medical scan, the doctors found something and she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer. She has already undergone surgery and chemotherapy to treat the disease. Her cancer was caught at an early stage and she will now have much more time with her granddaughter and the rest of her family. This year, we will be running in honor of this strong, brave, and loving woman in the hopes that it will help bring awareness to others about this terrible but treatable disease.
Every year, 220 women in Colorado will lose their battle against this deadly disease. These deaths can be prevented by earlier diagnosis and greater awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms. There is no screeening test for ovarian cancer, so being able to recognize these symptoms, leading to early detection, is critical to save lives. They are:
2) Pelvic or abdominal pain
3) Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
4) Urinary urgency or frequency
The mission of the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (COCA) is to provide support and to promote awareness and early detection of ovarian cancer through advocacy and education.
Please give generously to support the efforts of Jodi and all we are trying to do to help save the lives of other women.
