Is Park Quest like a regular race? How does it work?
|
|
Park Quest is a unique urban adventure made just for kids! The entire course will be contained within the park system, including the open areas and the trails. While some teams will choose to run, teams may walk, crawl or stroll to each checkpoint throughout the park. Once given a clue sheet, teams will solve a number of clues to determine the location of checkpoints. Teams must go to these checkpoints and complete the challenges. Challenges can either be physical or mental and may either be explained on the clue sheet or in person once a team arrives at the checkpoint. The first team to complete the required number of challenges and return to the Finish Line will win.

| |
What types of challenges are involved in Park Quest?
|
|
Some checkpoints may only require teams to take a digital photo. At other checkpoints, teams may be required to complete a challenge. Challenges may include additional physical activities, puzzles/games, eating (items that are safe but potentially not appetizing), collecting items, or additional tasks. Teams may be given items at checkpoints that must be returned to the Finish Line.

What happens after I register?
|
| Make sure you sign up using an email address you will monitor. We will send out updates, hints, clues, etc. as the race approaches. You will pick up your packet containing your t-shirt and bib number on the morning of the event. The clues will be distributed on the day of the event. You will be asked to read and sign the waiver upon picking up your packet. (If you prefer, you can download the waiver from the PARK QUEST website.) |
| |
How can I invite other people to join my team?
|
| Just have them sign up with the same team name. Each team will be accessible from the registration page. Just make sure you know your team’s name. All teammates must sign up individually. At least two people must be on each team, and the team will be full after six people have signed up. |
| |
When does online registration close?
|
| Online registration will close at midnight on Thursday, DATES TBD. After that, you can only sign up in person on race day starting at 8:00AM IF the race has not sold out. Be aware of the significant price increase for signing up on race day. |
| |
What if I get one of the clues wrong?
|
| For every incorrect or incomplete clue, 15 minutes will be added to the team’s finish time. Once a team crosses the finish line, they may not return to a clue location to complete an incomplete or incorrect clue. It is the team’s responsibility to ensure that it has the necessary proof of completion of the clues as specified on the clue sheet. The event staff will have the final say in the determination of whether a clue was completed correctly. |
| |
What happens if my team arrives at a checkpoint and there is already a team there?
|
| Multiple teams will likely be at some of the checkpoints at the same time. The teams will complete the challenge in the order in which they arrived. If the checkpoint is crowded, a team may choose to use their skip or leave and return. Remember that the order you complete the checkpoints is up to you and that each team may skip one checkpoint. |
| |
What else should I know prior to the event?
|
| Teams may not engage in unsportsmanlike or illegal conduct. Verbal or physical aggression towards the public, local officials, other participants or staff, or acts of vandalism, theft or harassment will result in disqualification from the race at the discretion of the staff. Please use common sense, and remember that this is for fun!
PARK QUEST reserves the right to disqualify any participant or team for any reason at any time at the staff’s discretion.
No registration refunds will be given for any reason.
During the race every team MUST:
