THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT

Imagine receiving the news one day that your six year old child had been diagnosed with cancer for the second time after nearly four years of remission. What would you do if the treatment your child needed was not available in your city or state? Imagine what it would be like to travel far from home and into an unfamiliar setting to help your child fight for their life. What would it be like to have to find adequate housing without your support network to rely on? Imagine spending three months away from home watching your child undergo painful treatments, only to discover that their last chance at survival would mean another nine months of treatment and require a bone marrow transplant. How would pay your bills and hold everything together if you had to leave your job in order to care for your child full time?

This is exactly what one special Brent’s Place family experienced this year.

Max's Story

Max was diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia in February of 2010. With no treatment available in his hometown of Ridgway, Colorado, Max and his mom, Bobbi, came to Denver searching for a cure and uncertain of what might lie ahead. Max endured more than a year of treatment and separation from friends and family before he and Bobbi were finally able to go home with renewed hope for a healthy future. Fortunately, Max and Bobbi were able to live at Brent’s Place for more than 400 days while he was receiving life-saving treatment.

Brents Place Relies on You

Brent’s Place is the only specialized hospitality house that fills the critical need in the Rocky Mountain region for innovative “Safe-Clean” living accommodations and individualized support programs suitable for immune compromised patients and their families before, during and after their treatment. Thanks to your generous support, over 90 families like Max’s have called Brent’s Place home in 2011.

Today, the demand for our services continues to increase as the hospitals we support expand their services to care for all who are in need. For the first time since opening our new facility in 2009, we have operated at full capacity every month this year. In addition, the average family stay has increased from 84 days in 2010 to more than 100 days in 2011. With families facing rising healthcare costs, your support is needed more than ever as we work to provide housing and support at no cost to every family who comes to Brent’s Place.

At Brent’s Place, we know that it only takes one person to make a difference in the life of a child with cancer. Your participation in our upcoming Kid’s Cure for Cancer will enable us to provide critical housing and support for families during their greatest time of need. We are grateful for your dedication and generosity and we truly appreciate your desire to make a difference in the life of a child. Every contribution, large or small, truly makes a difference for families like Max and Bobbi.

Thank you again for your support of Brent’s Place and our families!

One family writes:

"Thank you soooo much for everything you do! Graham and I loved the picture frames and beautiful card for our wedding. Lily’s birthday presents were perfect; the support for Marty is outstanding. We love you! And we couldn’t do this without you."

From a patient:

"Thanks everyone here at Brent’s Place for making this experience much safer and enjoyable to go through. Mom was really happy about being down in Denver because if something happened then it might not be treated the right way. I’m sure this cancer thing will just be a funny memory soon, but until then thanks for letting us be down here and living here."
