The Course -
Central Park - ALL EVENT DISTANCES - One loop, about 2 miles, starts the race - One-Way Traffic - After first 1/3 mile, the path widens significantly. Use this loop to gain positioning for the more narrow, out-and-back loops! 5K is essentially 1.5 total loops around Central Park - FLAT and FAST!
Westerly Creek - ONLY 10K & HALF MARATHON - Out-and-Back - about 3 miles total - just after mile 5, the 10K merges back into Central Park for a fast mile to the Finish Line! TWO-WAY-TRAFFIC - KEEP LEFT - WATCH for pacers, course marshals and signage - and LISTEN for other runners (keep one ear bud out if you're wearing headphones!!!)
Sand Creek Regional Greenway - ONLY HALF MARATHON - Out-and-Back - about a mile before you reach Bluff Lake Nature Center, and then about 4 miles after you leave the Bluff Lake Nature Center loop. TWO-WAY-TRAFFIC - KEEP LEFT - WATCH for pacers, course marshals and signage - and LISTEN for other runners (keep one ear bud out if you're wearing headphones!!!)
Bluff Lake Nature Center - ONLY HALF MARATHON - One Clockwise Loop after a brief (two-way-traffic), narrow out-and-back along the Bluff Lake Service Road. Entrance to Bluff Lake is just after the Havana Street underpass - keep your eyes open for signage and course marshals! One loop - one direction - After this loop, you will exit Bluff Lake the same way you entered, turning LEFT, back onto Sand Creek Regional Greenway, up the hill along Havana Street, then back along Sand Creek Regional Greenway until you merge back into Central Park for the fast mile to the Finish Line!
Please remember that there are out-and-back portions of the course - be courteous and leave one ear bud of headphones out so that you are able to hear other runners and course marshals! NO PETS ON THE HALF MARATHON COURSE! All pets and strollers MUST begin at the rear. All other runners are advised to line up in the area closest to their anticipated minute-per-mile average.
