Online registration is closed, please register at the pre-race event on Friday, May 3 from 4pm-7pm at Laces Running Company (10549 Scripps Poway Pkwy, San Diego) or at the event on Saturday, May 4 beginning at 6:30 am.

Course description:
The challenging and unique courses will take you out on the Lake Poway Trail through the foothills around the lake near Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. The 5K is designed to let you pick your pace. Enjoy it as an elite trail runner, as a challenging family run or simply a gorgeous morning nature hike. The 10K adds to this course a grueling out-and-back (or up-and-down if we're being honest) into Blue Sky and a quad-burning +10% climb to the Ramona Dam. Take our advice and start training now!
The Kathy Young Memorial Kids Race
The Kathy Young Memorial Kids Race kicks off with a warm-up 15 minutes before the race starts and is perfect for kids 7 and under who aren't ready to tackle the 5K and the mini-runners who want the fun without the competition! The approximately 1/3-mile course follows a trail on the near-side of Lake Poway and finishes in the same spot as the 10K and 5K so even the kids enjoy all the fun and festivity of the main finish line. Parents are invited to chaperone their children in this race.
Directions to Lake Poway:From I-15 North: Exit Ted Williams Parkway East. Turn right on Twin Peaks Road. Turn left on Espola Road. Turn right on Lake Poway Road.
From I-15 South: Exit Camino del Norte East. Turn left on Espola Road. Turn right on Lake Poway Road.
Parking:
Parking at Lake Poway is very limited -- only 300 spaces -- and the City of Poway charges $5 to park there for all non-Poway residents. (Bring cash!) Poway will open the entry gates at 5:30am. If parking at the lake, please fill-in as high in the lots as possible (don't leave big gaps) and please don't park to the left (by the ranger's offices or the paddle boat dock) as the City is trying to reserve a few spaces for general use. At 7:00am, whether the lot is full or not, the Lake will be closed to all race-affiliated vehicles. All participants will have to then take the shuttles provided to off-site lots positioned along Espola and Twin Peaks Road.
Lot 1: The Connection Church, 14047 Twin Peaks Road, Poway (between Midland and Espola on Twin Peaks)
Lot 2: Church of Latter Day Saints, 14211 Twin Peaks Road, Poway (corner of Espola and Twin Peaks)
Lot 3: Living Way Church, 13609 Twin Peaks Road, Poway (corner of Midland and Twin Peaks)
SHUTTLES WILL BE PROVIDED, but please plan accordingly and GET THERE EARLY.
Lots will open after 5:30am, shuttles will start running at 6:00, and registration at Lake Poway opens at 6:30am. No dogs (or pets of any kind) are allowed on the shuttles.

Chip Timing
If you wish to be timed, your chip will be issued to you at the pre-race expo or event morning at the registration tents. You must wear the chip during the event to be scored. Return your chip at the finish line to avoid a $30 penalty.

Packet Pick-up will be at Laces Running Company (10549 Scripps Poway Pkwy, San Diego) on Friday, May 3 from 4pm-7pm.
Registration info:
Pricing is based on each participant's age, regardless of which race he or she chooses to run. Fees are non-refundable. Ages 7 and under: $10 ($15 after 4/27/13) for the 5K or Kids Race. Children under 7 are discouraged from attempting the 10K course) Ages 8-17: $25 ($30 after 4/27/13) for the 10K or 5K. Ages 18 and older: $35 ($40 after 4/27/13) for the 10K or 5K. Special military/fire/police rate for adult 5K entry to Heroes Heat. Contact Race Director for more information.
