In 2004, the Cottonwood Classic 5K introduced an Elementary School Division of the race. This division is designed to encourage children to
practice good health and physical fitness. Children at the elementary level are welcome to participate alone or as a team with faculty and staff from their school, or family members. There is a discounted
entry fee for all participants in this division, and a special awards bracket. Please call 720-977-5914 for more information.

Course description:
Start/Finish area is at 12100 Washington Center Pkwy. (east of Thorncreek Crossing Shopping Center). The race course winds north to trail, west on trail to Washington St., north to 126th Ave., east to trail, north to 128th Ave., east to Claude Ct., south to driveway, west to trail and south to the finish line.
First through fifth place fastest male and female racewalkers will also recieve awards (there are no separate age categories). Overall fastest male and female racewalker will receive special awards.

Weather: The race will be held rain or shine, but lightning, extreme winds or other dangerous weather could cause cancellation or delay of the event. Please call (720) 977-5908 for information on cancellation or delay. The message will only be changed when a decision has been made to cancel/delay.

Scoring is coordinated by BKB and Hallucination Sports using IPICO chip timing system. You will need to pick up your chip on race day starting at 7:00 a.m. Chips will attach to your shoe with a zip tie and will be collected at the finish line.
Dogs/Strollers
Well behaved dogs are welcome and must be kept on leashes (4 foot or less) at all times. Please do not block or impede the progress of other participants! Strollers are also permitted.
Schools Division
In an effort to promote healthy habits and encourage children to exercize regularly, we offer a special Schools Division. Elemetary school teachers, staff or volunteers are encouraged to form teams to train and compete at the race. Awards are given out to the top two fastest coed teams and the two schools with the largest participation numbers. In 2009 we had six schools participate (Stukey, Hunters Glen, Hillcrest, Skyview, Eagleview and Stargate) with a total of 285 runners and walkers.
