Welcome to the 7th annual Balarat Trail Run! This year we are teaming up with XTERRA and introducing a new distance of 21k. The XTERRA Balarat Trail Run is also part of the Trail Runner Magazine Trophy Series.
"The Balarat Trail Run is a true trail race this is 95% single track, hilly, rocky, twisty, turny, and close to home, which is very Rare in our closely mitigated front range" Lisa Goldsmith (Member of La Sportiva Mountain Running Team).
All proceeds of the run go to OUTDOOR EDUCATION. Balarat Outdoor Education Center provides instruction to Denver Public Schools students in environmental studies, Western history, and outdoor leadership skills. Currently Balarat Outdoor Education Center serves over 10,000 students each year! The Balarat Trail Run is the only fundraiser that supports outdoor education for Denver Public School kids.
The Trail Run is a 10k(6 mi.) or 21k(13.1 mi.) race that takes place at an elevation between 7,000 ½ 8,000 ft. The route is 80% on single-track trail and 20% on dirt roads. The course will circle Balarat property and provide scenic vistas of Longs Peak and the Indian Peaks. The trails will be rocky and steep with tough climbs and fast descents. Total elevation gain and loss for runners is approximately 1,200 for the 10k and 2,400 for the 20k. There will be aid stations.
