Description:

It is with great regret to announce that The Train Run Half Marathon has been POSTPONED. At approximately, 4 PM Thursday 6/23/2016, we were informed by the designated officials from each of the cities involved with the event, including LA County Fire Chief, that due to of the nature of the active fires affecting air quality in the San Gabriel Valley, it was decided that the event be postponed to a later date in the Fall. These decision we made in accordance of established safety guidelines by the participating cities and the County of Los Angeles.

For those of you who may not be able to reschedule for the projected new date of potentially Mid-November, there are three other events you may replace your registration with for the remainder of the year. Those three events are the Conquer the Overlook 5K and Stair Climb Challenge ( 8/27/2016), Ascot Hills Challenge (9/17/2016), Ohana Holiday Toy Run (December).

In conjunction with the new 626 Golden Open Streets event, the first ever Train Run International 1/2 Marathon! This is a point-to-point 13.1 mile run for all levels of ability with a Train Jump twist to it. Registrants can decide to cover a portion or all the distance by starting from different parts of the metro stops between South Pasadena and the new Azusa Metro station.

Course description:


Course will follow the 626 Golden Streets Open Streets route. Start will be at South Pasadena, and finishes at City of Hope in Duarte.

Fast, flat, fun on beautiful tree lined streets taking you through South Pasadena, San Marino, Arcadia, Monrovia, and Duarte. For beginners, take your time and visit our Healthy Hubs throughout the course, sampling booths, and hydration stations. For you hardcore competitors, you all have plenty of time open up your engine. 

Starts on the corner of Mission and Fairview, in South Pasadena. Staging will take place on the corner of Meridian and Mission Street. Runners will head east on Mission Street towards Garfield, south towards Huntington Drive, east on Huntington Drive, north on Michelinda, east on Colorado, right on 1st Street, left/east on Santa Clara Street, Right/South on California, left on Duarte/East and Finish at city of Hope.  Water stations at mile 3, 6, 8, 11, official finish line (13.1). Map will be available on the event website (TBA) and maps will be available on the day of the event.

Please remember this is a part of the 626 Golden Streets open streets, and there may be other walkers and bicyclist along the route.

**Weather Alert**
It's going to be a hot one on Sunday. Hydration will be priority for those participants in #‎TheTrainRun. Make sure you utilize the water stations at each Golden Streets Hub location throughout the route. We also have EMT support at each booth. Don't forget, you have the option to use the Metro starting at mile 9 (Arcadia station). Parents, please ensure your child or youth come prepared with sunblock, hat, and use water stations. You are responsible for your children or youth. Stay informed by checking weather updates.

Parking:

Surrounding street parking. Mission St. will be closed from cars. Park on parallel streets i.e. El Centro, or Hope St. After finishing in City of Hope, you may use your complimentary tap card to ride back to the start (South Pasadena Gold Line Station). Finish is about 100 yards from the Duarte/City of Hope Station.

Intermittent Traffic Control Alerts

Note the following streets are mandatory police controlled and you may be required to wait for several seconds, especially the slower participants who will decide to take a temporary break at the various health hubs along the course.

Other streets may have Police Department and/or CCC volunteers manning intersections. Please follow ALL directions during crossings.

 

Metro Train Crossing:

California and Duarte, Monrovia California –  Every 12-15 minutes metro will cross and take about 10-15 seconds before safety arm is raised.

Sponsors booth & team set-up:  Same-day set-up starts at 5:30A and ends firmly at 6:30A.M. Vendors and Sponsors, enter from El Centro from Fremont Avenue. 

Media: Event is covered exclusively by Arroyo Vista Media Production and it’s affiliated partner BikeSGV. It includes photographs, video, web casting and other images of participants in the event. Entry into the meet is acknowledgement and consent to this fact. 

Timing:

Chip Timed Race:

The official ½ marathon is chip timed. Start is located near Mission & Fairview Ave. and participants must cross the timing mat for official results and to be eligible for the division awards and money prize (TBD).  Participant will then walk 100 yards towards the official start on Fairview and Mission Street. 

If you wish to be timed, your chip will be issued to you event morning at the registration tents or at packet pickup. You must wear the chip during the event to be scored.

The Jump Out Fun run from any metro station east of South Pasadena is not chipped timed, but registered participants must wear their bib to receive their finisher medal at the finish.

Commemorative T-shirt guaranteed to pre-registered participants only. Day of Registrants shirts are subject to availability.

Tap Card provided will include enough for Metro fair back to the start or designated metro stop along the route. 


Additonal information:

Those youth who need to stop and rest, will have at least 4 opportunities before arriving at City of Hope. Parents and/or legal guardians are encouraged to coordinate with their child(ren) and/or their designated coaches their rest stops. Remember, this is also a fun run and youth and adults have the option to stop at each hub and rest before heading towards the finish.

*Registrations costs are non-refundable. While every effort will be made to conduct the event, the race will be postponed or canceled if the weather/conditions is judged to be hazardous to the safety of participants and spectators. Entry fees will not be refunded if the event is canceled.
 
Aztlan Kids Promotion (Race Morning):
 
It will NOT BE ALLOWED on race morning for kids (17 and under) to register under the free AztlanKids promotion on race morning. All must be registered online prior to the event.
Day of Registration for AztlanKids will be able to register under a subsidized cost of $50

(Please pickup packets on this day (June 23th or following pre packet pickup times), and not race day. We are highly recommending to pickup their packets prior to the race morning to avoid lines. Those picking up on race morning, will need a leader to if picking up multiple kid's packets.
