THE CAUSE: Ignite the Spirit began in 2003 in response to 9/11 and the toll it took on the nation and on the families of first responders who lost their lives. Chicago firefighters who helped at Ground Zero resolved to reach out to local families and create a source of financial and emotional help. Ignite also benefits various causes including cancer research and children's hospitals..The organization’s goal is to offer immediate assistance. Ignite the Spirit : “We’re HERE when you need us.”
THE COURSE/TIMING: The USATF sanctioned and certified (IL11043JW) b-tag timed 5k run course begins at the southeast corner of Soldier Field and runs clockwise around the stadium to the Lakefront Trail head south to turn around (by the Firefighter's Memorial) and north to the finish. Digital clocks with mile splits will be posted at mile 1, 2, and the finish line. Water and gatorade will be provided on the course. REGISTRATION/T-SHIRT SIZES: $35.00. Race day registration $40.00 (on-site, cash or check only!!) All pre-registered adult registrants will receive a Technical Tee-shirt. Children’s shirts are cotton only! THERE WILL BE NO EXCHANGES OF T-SHIRTS. SHIRTS ARE SEX SPECIFIC. DOUBLECHECK YOUR SIZES PRIOR TO REGISTRATION
CREATE or JOIN A TEAM: Team Captains MUST register first and will create their team during the registration process. Team Members will register after the team captain has registered and created the team. Team members will then select their team name from the drop down box on the registration form. Prizes will be given for largest team, biggest fundraising team, more TBA! Join the COMPETITIVE TEAM CHALLENGE and your fastest four runners on race day will vie for prizes with other teams!
FUNDRAISING: A fundraising webpage is automatically created for everyone who registers online! Prizes for the top fundraisers. EVERYONE WHO DONATES or RAISES A MINIMUM OF $25 by July 28th will be put in our RAFFLE. Visit the fundraising link for more details!
