The Elmwood Park Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host its 1st Annual 5K Run/Walk. Our goal as a Chamber is to hold this annual event to raise money to help residents in Elmwood Park and their families lead more satisfying and productive lives.
This year's donations will be made to the Let Them Be Little X2 Fund to benefit the Leider family in support of their 2 sons, Jason and Justin and their fight against MPS. MPS is one of the world's most uncommon genetic diseases, Hunter syndrome, a condition that literally batters children's bodies, leaving them with swollen internal organs, bloated faces and possible dementia before they are old enough to drive a car.
Donations will also be made to The Elmwood Park PBA Local 185 Fund for the benefit of Brandon Petronzi. Brandon is the son of one of our Elmwood Park Police Officers who was stricken with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a progressive form of muscular dystrophy, which results in muscle degeneration, difficulty walking and breathing, and often other complications.
It is the Chamber's hope to make this one of many successful events to help our Elmwood Park neighbors. Come join us, get a little exercise and have some fun while honoring two very worthy causes.
The route consists of 3 laps totaling 3.1 miles. Runners will start the race heading north on Elm Street, turn right onto Washington Avenue, right onto the Boulevard and Right on Gilbert. The race finishes in the high school lot adjacent to Gilbert Avenue.
The race begins in the parking lot behind the high school on Elm Street near Gilbert Avenue and heads north on Elm Street.
