Description: The Second Wind Fund of Metro Denver is proud to present the Denver Dash 5k Walk/Run/Ride - the LARGEST youth suicide prevention event in the nation! Denver Dash is on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden.

- This community event will feature a 5k timed run, 3 mile or 1 mile walk, and a bike ride from C-470 and Morrison Road to the event site.

- All proceeds from this event will directly benefit youth in the community who are at-risk for suicide by helping SWFMD continue to provide free, licensed therapy to get them healthy and happy again.

- Event activities include a free BBQ lunch, massages, t-shirts, concerts, kids' activities, and a memorial dove release

- Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt, a free lunch, and admission to the after-party

-Denver Dash After-Party includes kids activities, vendor booths, free massages, a beautiful dove release of nearly 200 birds, and you will hear music from bands like the Hazel Miller Band, Dotsero, and more!

Statistics show that 1 in 4 youth in the Denver metro area struggle with serious thoughts of suicide each year and Colorado ranks 6th highest in the nation for suicide. Come help us fight against suicide by raising awareness and funds to fight against this preventable disease.

Course description: The course for the 3 mile walk will exit the fairgrounds at the east exit and move into the Sixth Avenue West neighborhood.

The course for the 5k run will be publicly shared once approved by the appropriate cities, counties, and authorities.

The one mile walk will be contained on the fairgrounds.

Directions to start: The starting line for the run and walk events will be near the Picnic Pavilion.
The bike ride will start in the parking lot on Rooney Road by C470 and Morrison Road and will end at the fairgrounds.
   
Parking: Walkers & runners should arrive at the event at least 30 minutes early. This should leave enough time to park as instructed by the parking volunteers, register, pick up your race materials (chip/bib/t-shirt for runners-wrist bands for others/t-shirt), and prepare for the race.
   
Awards info: Runners will be announced on Sept. 16 as follows:

Major pledge prizes will be awarded after September 30th to the individuals raising the most money. Major pledge prizes include:

1st Place: first choice of one of the condos listed below.
2nd Place: second choice of one of the condos listed below.
3rd Place: remaining condo.
- A week at a luxurious condo in Molokai, Hawaii (minimum $7,500 will
include airfare) (Sleeps 4)
- A 3 night stay in a Dillon Condo (3 bedrooms, 6 people maximum)
- A 1 week stay in Alma near Breckenridge (2 bedroom, 4 people maximum)

Every $300 you raise in pledges earns you an opportunity to win a Denver Hot Air Balloon Tour!

Prizes will be awarded after Sept. 30 for the teams with the most participants as follows:
Largest School Team (1st and 2nd place) + Roving Trophy for the winning team

Team Captains with teams of 10 or more members will earn a chance to win a Denver Hot Air Balloon Tour!

Additional Info: Remember to dress for the weather! Bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and wear tennis shoes.

For Riders, bikes will be secured in a guarded area at the fairgrounds. You may ride back to the start after lunch or arrange your own transportation home from the fairgrounds.
   
Start Times for Run & Walk Events The 5k run will start at 12:35 pm near the Picnic Pavilion.
The 3 mile walk will start at 12:45 pm near the Picnic Pavilion.
The 1 mile walk will start at 12:25 pm near the Picnic Pavilion.
The bike ride will start at 10:00 am in the parking lot on Rooney Road near C-470 and Morrison Road.
   
Chip Timing If you wish to be timed, a chip will be issued to you on the morning of the event at registration or you may pick it up at Barnes & Noble Denver West on Sept. 13 or Green Mountain Presbyterian Church on Sept. 15. You must wear the chip during the event to be scored. If you pick up your chip but fail to bring it with you on event day, new chips can be issued for $10.
   
Qualifier Runners can use their time from the Second Wind Fund of Metro Denver Denver Dash to qualify for the first 21 waves of the 2013 DICK'S Sporting Good BolderBOULDER.

Denver Dash participant packets and t-shirts are available at pre-registration sites as follows: September 13, 2012, 3:00pm - 7:30pm - Barnes and Noble Denver West in Golden (14347 W. Colfax, Ave, Golden, CO 80401) - Runners pick up chip/bib/t-shirt: other participants pick up wrist band/t-shirt. September 15, 2012, 10:00am - 2:00pm - Green Mountain Presbyterian Church in Lakewood (12900 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood, CO 80228) - Runners pick up chip/bib/t-shirt: other participants pick up wrist band/t-shirt. Last-minute participants can also pick-up materials at Denver Dash registration on September 16th.
