The Black Canyon Ascent 6-mile Run and Challenge Walk features a tough, scenic 6-mile course starting at an elevation of 6500' and climbing almost 2,000' to the rim of the Black Canyon National Park. For over 35 years, beautiful vistas and scenic surroundings have inspired people to challenge themselves and the competition in this classic western Colorado event. After the race, you, family, and friends can enjoy visiting the spectacular Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
All participants will receive a high-quality, custom-printed race shorts with distinctive Black Canyon imagery. Also, all participants (runners and walkers) will be entered into the raffle to take place during and after the awards ceremony.
This year we are taking the race to a new level. We will feature:
Professional chip timing
High-quality, custom-printed technical shirts
Bonus $200 incentive if a new course record is set

This year the Montrose Wine Board is proud to announce the expansion of this year's event to include food prepared by chefs from throughout the region in an open-air festival, making the event bigger and tastier than ever.
Mission to Ride Bicycle Tour, May 13, 2012
Join us for a wonderful spring cycling event in a beautiful part of Colorado. This is a non competitive bicycling tour for riders of all abilities. This event features a Century (100-mile), 60-mile, 40-mile, 30-mile, and mountain bike ride options.
This year we are offering a $200 bonus if someone sets a new course record in the Overall Male or Female category.
Overall Male Course Record - 40:08 (Simon Gutierrez, 2008)
Overall Female Course Record – 45:06 (Brandy Erholtz, 2009)
We will feature custom awards for:
Overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female
Masters 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male and Female
1st place for Male and Female in the following age groups: 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and Over.

Professional Timing:
From Hallucination Sports - Particpants will be timed using the latest and most accurate timing technology. You must wear your chip during the event to be scored. No chip = No Time! Be sure to return your chip to the finish line volunteers to avoid the $30 non return fee.
