| Description: |
This event is a great way to introduce your child to the sport of triathlon! Course distance is dependent on age; all courses will begin and end at the Aquatic Center/Centennial Park. Participants are split into four age groups (5-7, 8-10, 11-12 and 13-14) to ensure that kids compete with their peers.
Registration fee includes a t-shirt, light snacks after the race, a participant ribbon and entry into the pool for the remainder of the day. Medals will be awarded for the top three finishers in each age group!
All races begin at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center and end at Centennial Park, which is adjacent to the Aquatic Center. The swim portion of the event will take place in the pool. The bike and run portions of the event will take place on nearby residential streets and the Salida Trail System. |

5-7 year olds
Swim: 1 length/ 25 meters
Bike: One lap -1/2 mile
Run: One lap - 1/3 mile
8-10 year olds
Swim: 4 lengths/ 2 laps / 100 meters
Bike: One lap - 2 miles
Run: One lap - 1/2 mile
11-12 year olds
Swim: 8 lengths / 4 laps / 200 meters
Bike: Two laps - 4 miles
Run: Two laps - 1 mile
13-14 year olds
Swim: 8 lengths / 4 laps / 200 meters
Bike: Two laps - 4 miles
Run: Two laps - 1 mile
Note: Bike and Run distances are approximate for the kid's triathlon.

The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center will host the 15th Annual Tenderfoot Mountain Duathlon and Triathlon (for adults) on Saturday, September 1.
We encourage kids of all abilities to enter this triathlon! However, kids must be able to complete the swim portion of the event without the use of swim aids. Parents or a responsible adult must be present on race day.

Salida Labor Day Weekend Events
Sunday, September 2 - Music and Fireworks at Riverside Park
The City of Salida postponed their 4th of July fireworks display due to high fire danger. This event has been re-scheduled for Labor Day weekend and is FREE and open to everyone! There will be free music in Riverside Park from 4 - 8pm at the band shell; fireworks will begin at 8pm. One dollar hot dogs and soft drinks will be sold from 4 - 8pm. Bring the whole family down with some blankets or lawn chairs to celebrate after the kids' triathlon! |

| Swim details |
We will wait 20 minutes after the last competitor in each age group finishes his/her swim before beginning the next age group. This is to eliminate the confusion of past years caused by too many participants out on the course at one time and to allow time for participants to warm up. Older competitors will begin first. |

Packet pickup will take place on Sunday, September 2 from 8am - 9:30am at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center. |
