The Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival is held annually in beautiful Cañon City, Colorado, where the Arkansas River flows, rages, and tumbles out of the world famous Royal Gorge. This is the premier whitewater and river event of the summer. Come join our festival on June 23 & 24, 2017! The festival is held annually at Centennial Park, located along the beautiful banks of the Arkansas River. There will be 20-events during the festival and anyone can compete.
Whitewater Events: We will offer everything from down river races through the world famous Royal Gorge, to freestyle events in the Cañon City Whitewater Park, or sprint and Boater X races. Whether you prefer rafts, kayaks, SUP's, or river boards there is an event for everyone to enjoy. Back for the 17th year is the Build Your Own Boat Race (ByOB Race) and there is the very popular Community Raft Race. You don't have to be an expert to participate in most events, in fact you only need to be able sit in a tube for the River Tube Races. Anyone can get in the river and have fun.
Adventure Race Series: This will be the fifth year we have offered the Whitewater Adventure Races series. These are events anyone can participate in and you don't have to have any skills necessarily, you just need to be a little adventurous. This is an obstacle race through Centennial Park and organized by the Cañon City High School Junior ROTC Program. We will have individual races for youth and adults and a team relay race.
Live music in 2017 will be held on two temporary stages in Centennial Park, one by the river and the other in the southeast corner of the park! You can get a complete band line-up in the Music section of our website. On June 24th we will bring back a pair of popular events, yoga in the morning and at 3;30 the Hot Diggity Weenie Dog Races make their return to Canon City. We will have a Fun Zone for the Kids, Kayak and SUP Demo's on the pond, and plenty of food and merchandise vendors.
Join us for the Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival on June 23rd and 24th.
